Hibiya Godzilla Statue To Be Replaced

One of the must-see things in Japan for Godzilla fans is the Godzilla statue in the Hibiya section of Tokyo in the Hibiya Chanter Square.

All that is about to change, somewhat.

According to Bloody Disgusting:
Dating back to 1995, a towering statue of the Heisei-era Godzilla has been proudly on display at Tokyo’s Hibiya Chanter Square, which is officially being renamed Godzilla Square later this month. Additionally, the classic Godzilla statue is being replaced by the Big G’s newly-designed iteration from Shin Godzilla, a mega hit over in Japan.
The news comes to us courtesy of Godzilla-Movies.com, the site announcing that the 9-foot-tall Shin Godzilla statue will be erected at the spot on March 23.

I noticed that one of my photos of the current Godzilla statue accompanies the article.
